You can always find a small memento of your stay from the crafts produced by your host at Glengarry. These range from cards, gift tags, beadwork, cross-stitch, Christmas decorations, to homemade jams and marmalades. Janet is always happy to produce items to your specific requirements if you have a special occasion requiring a card or a gift. You will often find her beavering away in the evenings and she is always happy to chat to you about any of her crafts.
Harris Tweed Shop
Just a short distance away from Glengarry you will find the Harris Tweed Shop in the village of Newtonmore. Here you will find Iconic Harris tweeds from classic and traditional clothing to Designer outfits for both ladies and gents. Carrbridge Artists Studio
A little further afield in the village of Carrbridge, famous for its drover's bridge, is a gem of a shop owned by local Artists, Alice, Jeff and Amy Buttress. The whole family produce the most beautiful paintings and prints, specialising in Landscapes and Wildlife of the Cairngorms. This is not their only craft as they also have a wide range of their Pottery, Jewellery, Sculpture, and Raku. Outside you will also find delightful chainsaw carvings. Something for everyone.
Brodie Countryfare established in 1976
Spend a day at Brodie Countryfare where you will find everything from Ladies Fashion to Toys and Games. Baxters Highland Village
For a flavour of Scotland a visit to Baxters Highland Village is a must. Established in 1868 by George Baxter four generations of the Baxter family have been producing some of the finest soups, preserves, chutneys and much more for 148 years. Sample delicious home cooked food in the restaurant or step back in time as you enter the old grocery shop. Visit the Museum, the Food Hall, Gift shops, Whisky Shop and there is even a play area for the children.
The House of Bruar
Known as the home of country clothing, this is Scotland's most prestigious independent store. Here you will find some of the leading designers of country clothing in the UK. See the fantastic range of Cashmere in the Knitwear Hall and visit the Halls specialising in such famous names as Barbour, Weber, Gant and Gardeur. The 20,000 sq.ft of Menswear houses a wide range of tweeds, knitwear, shirts, shoes and accessories. Visit the Fishing Tackle Shop, the Art Gallery, and innovative ideas for the home and garden in the Country Living Department. Round off your visit with coffee, lunch or afternoon tea in the restaurant and take home a selection of goodies from the Food Hall and Delicatessen.
